We spent some time looking at and describing optical illusions. Then we compared our descriptions with a classmate's description. What did you learn about space, other people's view and our own way of seeing the world?
Some people see the world a lot differently as I do. In one of my comparisons, Alex and I have a completely different perspective on what is going on. Everyone sees things a little differently. One with B-Dawg, we have about the same thing but I was a lot more descriptive. It could be because he was rushing but some people see more in things than others. Its like with a painting, some people see a bunch of nothing and some see a meaning.
The main thing i notice with comparing my ideas with other people's on illusions is you can see so many different things, and one person might have a whole different view than what you see. It really makes you think when you are looking at illusions, because you don't need the right angles or really anything, they are meant for you to think
When we worked on these different optical illusions, we had to compare with different people and from just comparing with the other people in the class. I could tell how differently we had seen things from one another. One person could look really deep and beyond what meets the eye, and actually think about what the painter was thinking when he painted the picture. But they also could have just looked at the picture and tried to come up with something from just looking at the picture.
All of the optical illusions in which were observed such as the other worlds photograph and the up and down photograph all had some key features similar in every optical illusion we observed. In these two pictures in particular in which I have named “other world”, and “up and down” what you are able to see in the photos appears differently to the observer depending on the perspective the viewer takes when he or she observes them. The optical illusion may appear to be reflected off a mirror for some, or simply upside down for others. Or what may appear as different buildings on different levels for one viewer of the optical illusion may appear as all the buildings on the same level for another viewer. This relates to space because space has not direction, whatever direction in which you’re facing in space is your forward, and everything else is just simply present. That’s what I learned from observing these optical illusions. Everyone has a different perspective in which they view things, and just because there way is different than my own does not stand to reason that it’s wrong, it’s just simply different.
The way I look at an illusion might be different than someone else. When I look at it I see stuff that other people might not see and when someone else looks at an illusion they might see stuff that I wouldn't think of or see.
not everyone sees the same thing, some more than others some less, and some will see more that what is there
