  1. Parents Using GPS to Keep Tabs on Teens
ABSTRACT: This article was very interesting because teens in today’s culture think that their parents are being over protective basically all the time! But what this article talked about was how GPS in cars, phones, and mobile devices can help teens and worried parents. The reason why it can help so much is because teens are so busy and it’s easier for a parent to know where they are and to make sure they don’t get in trouble. Another reason why it’s a good use of technology is because if the teen’s car got stolen or any dangers like that the police would be able to locate the car and help immediately. It may seem like an over protective act by the parents but it is a smart and safe burden.

This article to me means much more than strict parents being over protective of their children. To me it means trying to make sure through your busy life as a teenager someone is looking out for you. And I know that a lot of teens want to do activities that their parents wouldn’t approve of, so this would help teens to think before they go somewhere or do something they aren’t suppose to. While I was reading this article I was thinking about how safety is the main point of this whole article, when you read the heading you might think differently of the article but basically all it’s about is teen safety. Teen safety to me means making sure that nothing can happen to your child. I can’t really understand what having a child is like, so I don’t know what kind of protective nature adults have for their kids. But I can only imagine worrying about your kid, and always trying to make sure they are safe.
In the article it also talks about how parents shouldn’t feel like they are tracking their teens either, because in many cases parents can help their teens with this device. It’s not just about teen’s privacy when they are at this age they don’t really need privacy from their parents. Teens don’t understand many dangers that can happen without their parents help. Like being lost on a vacation with some friends, and you might be in a bad part of town. There are some many instances you can name that it is always good to have a backup plan, which could very well be this GPS system. It can take ease off of parents mind, knowing that they know where their teen’s are at all times. As for teens it can make them feel safer, for many teens they don’t like to admit that they do like the comfort of knowing that their parents are there to help them if they need it.
The GPS can go in more devices than just cars, it can also go in hand held devices and phones, and in now days pretty much 90% of teens have phones, so this is available for any parent who is interested in their teen’s safety and monitoring. Parents can check where their kids are on their own hand held devices or on a home computer, which is very convenient. For example, say John (the dad) is calling Alex (the son) but Alex is not answering, maybe because his phone is turned off or he just is ignoring his father. But John can just go on his own phone and check where Alex is and either goes to get him or know that he is at a safe place, which can put a lot of piece and mind too many parents. The whole point of my paper was to tell parents that safety is key when raising a child or teenager in the new society we have. Many teens get caught up into drugs and other bad habits and I know maybe at the time the teen or child might think your being annoying or “over protective,” but I guarantee that when they get older and more mature they will thank you. Teens don’t know what is the best for them because they haven’t lived long enough to know from experience, so parents have to make sure that they do everything in their power to keep their children on the up and arrow .

Make Traveling A Lot Less Stressful With the Right Type of Car GPS
Thousands of individuals day by day find themselves travelling a crossed busy high ways, counties, roads, parks, states, and sometimes even time zones for business travels. While diving in a vehicle while on business it can easily become very confusing for a driver and time consuming if you have to worry about detours or getting lost. Self programmable tools such as GPS’s have become more and more an essential tool while driving. Not only do they course correct themselves they curse correct your driving utilizing a tool which insures you will never be lost again. With this great piece of technology comes a great responsibility with drivers however and is left to wonder if these built in devices are more helpful or more hurtful as a distraction in the vehicle.
With all the new evolving and evolutions to the growing field of technology things become obsolete as soon as the “new thing” comes out which is usually right after you make your purchase. Parents have growing concerns when their children taking the wheel for themselves for the first time after they get there license let along having to worry about them getting distracted from these toys. Technology affects everyone whether you believe it or not. You don’t have to purchase the technology yourself nor do you have to even choose to be a part of it as it continues to evolve. Times will make you a part of it whether or not you want a say in it or not.
Whenever driving on the road you have a responsibility for yourself and other drivers around your given area. Whether or not you yourself have purchased a guiding system for your vehicle others on the road may have. As a result if that driver becomes distracted while attempting to navigate with that device on a unfamiliar road it may become a problem for other drivers.
I personally think that guided technology built right into vehicles is not a necessary step in which companies, or individuals should be taken. In my opinion it’s going to get to the point when automotive companies become such a monopoly that the driver themselves won’t even get a say in what they are purchasing anymore. In my sole opinion it would be taking away from the say that the consumer has.
It also brings up the question on how much of a handicap we are putting on ourselves. Part of the driving experience is learning through error. When a driver first takes the wheel it takes multiple practice attempts to get comfortable on the road. With teenagers, grandparents, car pools, and technology it shuffles away the experience of what driving is. If we continue to follow technology in this manor not only GPS devices but computers, mobile devices, and so on then were teaching ourselves not to do tasks because we simply don’t have to. There is a key example of this with my current family run business.
Currently on my family run farm we utilize GPS devices for planting, harvesting, crop reports, and grain transportation and so on. In doing so we can effectively increase yield production on the grain we harvest and in turn increase income over expense. However, it begs the question of how effective this really is. Currently the Tractor requires a operator to turn the tractor around however the built in GPS system directs the steering wheel to insure the rows of crop are completely straight with no overlap. Now if something was to go wrong with the technology, we then have to ask ourselves could we continue to operate and the answer as of now is yes. However, I question the methods of how you would answer that question with vehicles and built in navigation systems. Already companies use GPS systems for transportation, and delivery; however it comes to wonder how much of a problem it would be for those companies and drivers if it suddenly stopped working, because it would cause accidents, tie up business and ultimately be a handicap to progress.

  3. How Good is GPS in Mobile Phones

ABSTRACT: In this article it talked a lot about how GPS in our mobile phones now days can be a good thing but it can also be bad thing too. GPS can become a good thing because if you happen to lose your mobile device then you are able to easily track your device back. Also you could potentially become caught in an emergency situation and by new GPS mobile devices you are now able to figure your way out in those emergency situations. There are also many disadvantages to having a GPS in your mobile devices; you may never know that you are being tracked but at all times you are being tracked whether you know it or not. Also it is a big violation of privacy.

This article about GPS in mobile phones is a very touchy subject. I say this because a lot of people think that this is a very good thing for mobile devices to have a tracking system in them, but many other people are against it also. I also think that this could either hurt the company that creates the phones or it would boost up their income for their company. A lot of people don’t like the fact that the company would be able to track their costumers no matter where they went, and that the company would be violating their privacy. Although the government is stressing the issue that the costumers privacy would be safeguarded that doesn’t mean that someone out there could tap into the systems and figure out where certain people are at. There are many high quality super secure system that people in the past have tapped into. The courts have also made law enforcement agencies unable to get hold of any tracking information.
